Vanessa Baker
Principal Clinical Psychologist

Vanessa is a Clinical Psychologist who completed a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours Class I) at the University of Sydney, and a Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Canberra. Since 2014, she has worked with young people and families across a variety of private and public settings. Vanessa's most recent role was with the Child & Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS), which involved working with young people with severe and complex mental health concerns.

 

Vanessa draws upon a range of research-informed interventions/frameworks including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Systemic Family Therapy, Circle of Security Parenting, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Integrated Family Intervention, Tuning into Teens, and PEERS social skills training. Vanessa also has training in conducting gold-standard Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments using the ADOS-2 and ADI-R.

 

In addition to her clinical work, Vanessa has worked within research teams at Liverpool Hospital and the University of New South Wales. Areas of research included evaluating transition to school guidelines for children with ASD, contributing to the Australian Autism Biobank, and evaluating resources designed to improve partner communication during pregnancy. Vanessa is also a PsyBA approved supervisor for clinical psychology interns and registrars.
