Child & Family Psychology

What we offer

All our clinicians have training and experience working with children and families. We work with a range of emotional, behavioural, social, and developmental concerns in children aged 0-12. To find out more about the specific presentations that we work with, please refer to each clinician's individual profile, as we each have areas of interest and expertise. At Kids in Mind Psychology, we are currently offering both face-to-face and phone/online consultations.

Our approach

In providing quality care, we are committed to:

  • Taking the time to understand our clients and what they hope to get out of sessions

  • Working with our clients in a sensitive, supportive and collaborative manner

  • Using evidence-based interventions that are specifically tailored to our clients' needs

The process

1

Initial Assessment

The first step involves getting to know you, discussing your situation, and identifying what you would like to get out of sessions. You may also be asked to complete some questionnaires.

Duration: 90 minutes

2

FOLLOW-UP sessions

In your next session, we typically share our impression of what is going on for you and how we propose to work towards your goals. We greatly value your input and feedback as it is important that we have an accurate understanding of your situation and that you are comfortable with the proposed plan. If you are happy to proceed, then we can begin working on your goals. The duration of your support / number of sessions required will on the nature, severity, and complexity of your situation.

Duration: 50-60 minutes

3

Finishing up

Once you feel you have made good progress and no longer require our support, we typically come up with a plan for finishing up. Your input and feedback is again important here in ensuring that you are comfortable with the plan. The plan can sometimes involve gradually reducing the frequency of your sessions with a view to ceasing sessions all together. Even once you have finished sessions with us, you are welcome to re-refer should you require further support later down the track.
